jmlg.com2.5 by John M L Grubb

Me...as a Simpsons character.

Welcome to the latest incarnation of jmlg.com. Yeah, I got bored again and decided to do a little refresh and some housecleaning on the ol' website. I am going to actually keep it updated with random (good, bad and stupid) things that I find around the internet on my journeys.  Put jmlg.com in your bookmarks and check back more often than you used to in order to participate in the madness.

The template for the new site was designed by nodethirtythree.com and was found at and downloaded from oswd.com.

Two Incredibly Creative Videos

Posted by John Grubb on October 17, 2007

I discovered these two videos on a new video sharing site called Vimeo.com. In my opinion, they are extremely well done and creative! I really suggest clicking on the title below the video to view the high definition versions.

Highwire Fiction performed their original songs "That's How I Roll" and "Divide" this morning on Good Morning Arizona to promote their CD "In a Crowded Room"

A higher quality version of the perfomance can be downloaded here.  Note: You will have to have the free Divx codec installed to view the file. Download it here.

The Karmann factory in Germany is where various cars, including my car, the Chrysler Crossfire are built. Someone posted a great series of photos to Flickr that show various stages in the production of the Crossfire.

Nicki's Gone Crazy.

Posted by John Grubb on July 24, 2007

Hey all...I am pasting this from a letter that Nicki is sending out. You should really donate!

Dear Family and Friends,

It’s Nicki Hulstrom and I must warn you that you may want to sit down for what you are about to read.

I have begun training to run a 26.2 mile marathon to benefit The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society!

Maybe you felt the urge to reread that last sentence, but it’s true, there has been no misprint! I will be taking part in the PF Chang’s Rock ‘n’ Roll Marathon in January!

Many other participants talk about lifelong goals of completing a marathon and I have thought about it but NEVER figured that I would actually do it! Well here I am, completely out of my mind training to run 26.2 miles all in one shot!

Fortunately I have joined an organization called Team in Training (TNT) that will provide me with a great four month training program. TNT is a part of the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, a non-profit health organization dedicated entirely to finding a cure for Leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin’s disease and myeloma. There are 57 Leukemia and Lymphoma Society chapters that support research, patient financial aid, education, and community services. Everyone on my team is raising funds to help stop those diseases from taking more lives.

I have committed to raising $2,200 to support the Society, and would love your support. Your donation will help the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society’s mission of finding cures and saving lives. What’s more, your donation is fully tax deductible and over 75% of the $2,200 (and 100% of any amount above $2,200) will go toward research and patient services.

There are two ways to donate:

  1. Go to my very own ‘Nicki has gone CRAZY!’ Training page:

http://www.active.com/donate/tntdms/nhulstrom

Click on the left hand side to make a contribution.

  1. If you receive a copy of this letter but do not have internet access, contact me by phone and I will send you the appropriate form and a pre addressed stamped envelope to send it back to me.

I will gladly accept donations after October 20, however the sooner I meet my fundraising goal, the better I can focus my energy on preparing for the marathon. I also encourage you to pass this letter (or the URL above) to anyone else who might be interested in helping with this cause. Whatever amount you can give will help- every penny counts.

Ice packs, Advil, and a personal cheering section are certainly welcome, too!

Thank you again and with much appreciation,

Nicki Hulstrom

My latest video creation

Posted by John Grubb on June 25, 2007

Back in April I spent a few cherished hours in the studio with Highwire Fiction while they were recording their upcoming album. Needless to say, shenanigans ensued and a lot of it was caught on tape. Here is a little taste of the madness to come.
